December Harvest

By Ada Alden, as told to Constance Murray Greene

Ada Alden was also known as Ada Foster Murray. Herself an honored poet, she was the mother of poet Aline Murray Kilmer, wife of Joyce Kilmer.
Flower O' the Grass
December Harvest is Ada Alden's Autobiography, here presented as a Word document (1997-2003) for public education and dissemination. Ada came from a slave-holding family, and some of her opinions are tainted by that association. Ironically, she was also a feminist. The family has agreed to make the document available "warts and all." Please observe the compiler's wishes concerning further distribution of the document.

This page is dedicated to Ary (last name unknown), slave of the Foster family to which my great-grandmother Ada belonged. We mour her loss of freedom. We hope some day to learn more about her and to meet her relatives.
